My European Trip - Final Part
I take the train from Turin to Milan. There are two types of trains - Regular and Bullet. I take the regular, which is about 50 minutes more, which wouldn't have been so much of a problem if there was a bathroom on the train, but there wasn't.
When I arrive at the Milan train station, the first thing I do upon disembarking is run to the bathroom to pee, and once again, just the Genoa train station, this one too is one Euro to go in. Seriously?
I get to the hotel and check in. It's a modest 3-star room in a rather bleak section of the city. Right out the window, I see an abandoned military installation. Not exactly the French Riviera. I charge my phone and we all decide to hit the city and go to the Duomo, one of Milan's most famous locations, packed with tourists from all over the world.
The square is jampacked with people, and many doves who congregate there to feed off humans. It's quite nice. I find a roach coach and eat a small, cheap burger and a beverage and I start walking around, getting a feel for it. I see the most amazing Cathedral I've ever seen, so obviously I take a selfie.
And another, non-selfie Cathedral photo...
Inspired by its sheer beauty, I approach the Cathedral and ask if I can go inside, but there's a very long line and it ain't free, so I decide to stick to admiring it from a distance. It's not the religion part I care about. It's the architecture. It's quite something. One of the pinnacles of European craftsmanship.
I also hang inside the dome that comprises the Duomo mall. I'm surrounded by high-class clothing shops. Some of the most prestigious names in haute couture.
I go inside the local McDonalds. I order my meal from a touch screen and get to the second floor to enjoy it. (Enjoy is a strong word. I was fine, I guess.)
After that we go back to our hotel. It takes several trips and questions asked in the Metro stations, and we have to do quite a bit of walking, but sure. Why not?
We stop at a supermarket on the way and I buy some water and two sandwiches. I get back to my room and eat and drink in peace and watch some Italian TV. Really, I'm just worn out. All I wanna do is go to bed. Tomorrow I head back home.
The next morning I get up, take a shower, pack my bags and go downstairs for the hotel breakfast. It's fine. A pretty decent spread. I eat my fill and get on the ride to Malpensa international airport. I get past security and get to the waiting area near the gate. There's still quite a bit of time to pass, so I take one last selfie.
So that's it. That concludes my European trip. I had a blast, and the two Juventus wins made it worth while. That said, I'm thinking of some a bit more adventurous for my next trip. Maybe trekking in Mongolia?
